New Parents

Soul food for mums – A year-long, weekly devotional for new mums. A hugely comforting and encouraging read. Read our review here.

Ordinary Mum: Extraordinary Mission – A brilliantly realistic picture of what parenting with intention actually looks like. A very helpful read for expectant mums as well as veterans. Read our review here.

Music

King of the Jungle – Colin Buchanan writes fun and theologically edifying songs for children. This is a must-buy for car journeys.

Awesome Cutlery – Really funky tunes which help point your kids towards Jesus and biblical truths. Be warned – they’re very catchy!

Parenting Books

Parenting: 14 Gospel principles that can radically change your family – A gospel-centred and practical approach to parenting your children.

The Mama Book – A journal for mums to process motherhood. It’s full of thoughtful and fun questions to help you have a safe place to reflect on life in this season. Read our review here.

Ordinary Mum: Extraordinary Mission – A brilliantly realistic picture of what parenting with intention actually looks like. A very helpful read for expectant mums as well as veterans. Read our review here.

Adoption and Fostering Books

Home for Good – A brilliant book showing the Biblical call for Christians to care for vulnerable children. A must- read for anyone (especially any British person, as much of this book relates to the situation within the UK) who is exploring the possibility of adoption or fostering for themselves. Read our review here.

Adopted for Life – Written by a theologian and adoptive father, this book speaks from Biblical authority and personal experience. Read our review here.

Children’s Bibles and Resources

Jesus Storybook Bible – Our favourite children’s Bible. It’s written beautifully and skillfully shows how all the Bible points to Jesus.

The Beginner’s Bible A great first Bible for young children. It’s perfect for pre-schoolers as the text and pictures are very engaging.

Jesse Tree ornaments – We love the Jesus Storybook Bible so much that we created an Advent devotional and ornaments to go along with it.

Books to read with your kids

Everything a child should know about God – Key doctrinal truths broken down into bite-size chunks with engaging illustrations. Our three year old loves it!

Thoughts to make your heart sing – A great book written by Sally Lloyd-Jones, which is excellent for family devotions. A book which warms your heart to the good news of the Gospel, written in a style that even school age children can appreciate (as well as adults!)

Always near me – This book (and the rest in Susie Poole’s series) are beautiful board books which explain passages from the Bible in a way that very little children can understand. They would make a perfect Christening or Dedication gift.

Podcasts

Risen Motherhood – This podcast is really easy to listen to, the hosts have great demeanour (they’re hilarious!), they apply the gospel to the different topics and it’s practical and down to earth. Cathy’s absolute favourite!

God-Centred Mom – This podcast is interview style. This is great because you are always getting different perspectives on different topics. It’s easy to listen to.
